Lead Agile Delivery Manager - BPSS Clearance Essential

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead Agile Delivery Manager (SFIA 6) to join a major digital transformation programme operating within a highly visible and complex environment.

This is a critical leadership role supporting the successful delivery of large-scale digital services and transformation initiatives that are subject to significant executive and stakeholder scrutiny.

Working closely with senior leaders, including Deputy Director and Director-level stakeholders, you will provide delivery leadership, governance oversight, strategic reporting, risk management, and assurance across multiple teams and delivery workstreams.

This role offers the opportunity to influence delivery strategy, improve organisational delivery capability, and drive successful outcomes across a high-profile programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of complex digital and technology programmes across multiple teams.
  • Provide clear delivery leadership and strategic direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and programme leadership.
  • Manage programme governance, reporting, RAID activities, dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Drive roadmap planning, prioritisation, forecasting, and delivery assurance.
  • Support executive decision-making through clear reporting and delivery insights.
  • Identify and remove blockers to enable successful programme outcomes.
  • Champion agile delivery best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Lead Delivery Managers, Delivery Managers, and Scrum Masters.
  • Improve delivery maturity, ways of working, and organisational capability.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven SFIA 6 Delivery Management experience.
  • Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary digital delivery teams.
  • Strong senior stakeholder management skills, including engagement with executive leadership.
  • Expertise in delivery governance, RAID management, dependency management, and reporting.
  • Experience developing delivery roadmaps, plans, and prioritisation frameworks.
  • Track record of delivering within complex government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring experience across delivery disciplines.
  • Demonstrable success driving continuous improvement and delivery excellence.

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Deep expertise in Kanban and flow-based delivery management.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Work-in-progress (WIP) management
  • Lead time and cycle time metrics
  • Throughput analysis
  • Service-level expectations
  • Practical experience using Monte Carlo forecasting to improve delivery predictability and planning confidence.
  • Experience implementing forecasting and reporting solutions using Jira, Actionable Agile, or similar tools.
  • Ability to coach delivery professionals in forecasting techniques, metrics, and flow-based delivery practices.
  • Experience supporting high-profile programmes, executive governance forums, and ministerial-level commitments.
