Summary: The Interim Lawyer for Dispute Resolution and Compliance will manage complex housing litigation matters, including housing possessions and anti-social behaviour injunctions, while providing legal advice and advocacy services. This role requires experience in a public sector environment, ideally with local authorities or social landlords. The position is temporary, lasting 3-4 months, and involves mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. The role is based in Morden, London, with a pay rate of up to £40.16 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on dispute resolution and compliance matters, supporting council members and senior managers.
- Manage a caseload of complex dispute cases, including drafting legal documents and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Represent the council in court, mediation, or arbitration proceedings, ensuring effective dispute resolution.
- Advice on compliance with relevant laws and regulations, helping to resolve disputes and prevent future issues.
- Mentor junior staff, offering guidance on legal procedures and ensuring high standards of service delivery in dispute resolution.
Key Skills:
- Solicitor registered with the Solicitor Regulatory Authority, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, or Barrister registered with the Bar Standards Board.
- In-depth understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to housing law and dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with pre-action protocols and Civil Procedure Rules.
- Recent experience in a similar legal role, preferably within a public sector organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse caseload and conduct advocacy.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to develop innovative legal solutions.
