Summary: The Laser Weapons Safety Manager will lead a team of laser safety experts to develop safety cases and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The role involves contributing to safety working groups, reviewing safety documentation, and providing technical advice on weapon systems. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including military customers and international partners, is essential. The position is hybrid, requiring three days on-site work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of safety cases and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Contribute to safety working group panels and review contractor safety documentation.
- Provide technical advice on weapon platforms and systems.
- Collaborate with colleagues, military customers, and international partners.
- Engage in report writing and stakeholder management.
Key Skills:
- Full understanding of Defence Safety regulations and legislation.
- Experience in Safety Case Management and Reporting.
- Knowledge of Defence Safety and Environmental management systems.
- Solid experience in UK weapons safety.
- In-depth experience in safety auditing.
- Expertise in Safety and Environmental planning.
- Hazard Log Management and Compliance Management skills.
- Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Regulations.
- Experience with Laser Weapons systems.
- Understanding of probabilistic risk assessment.
- Familiarity with safety-critical software and modelling standards.
- Experience with Maritime and Land combat systems.
- Experience of OSRP (OME Safety Review Panel Process).
- Scientific, Numerical, or Engineering background.
