Summary: The Laboratory Technician role is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Alderley Park, focusing on supporting an established team of scientists in the development of novel antibody technology for infectious diseases and oncology. The position involves preparation of laboratory media and reagents, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and assisting with research projects. The role requires a methodical approach to lab safety and adherence to established protocols. Candidates should have a minimum BSc in a Biological discipline and relevant laboratory experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of media and reagents, broths, buffers, and solutions following SOPs.
- Inventory management of media stores and ordering lab reagents and chemicals.
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Support Lab Scientists with ongoing research projects, including sample preparation and data recording.
- Maintain clean and organized bench and storage spaces.
- Adhere to Health and Safety protocols, including waste disposal and PPE usage.
- Keep well-maintained records and contribute to the safety and quality culture of the business.
Key Skills:
- Minimum BSc in a Biological discipline or equivalent/related.
- Industry laboratory exposure, particularly with media and reagents.
- Experience with autoclave and glassware washing, experimental preparation, and stock ordering.
- High attention to detail and methodical approach to lab safety.
- Proficient in MS Office and databases.
- Good command of written and spoken English with exemplary communication skills.
- Collaborative and able to work independently.
