Summary: The Lab Automation Engineer role involves supporting the operation and improvement of an integrated robotic workcell for high-throughput cell-based assays. The position requires developing protocols, executing experiments, and providing training and documentation for end-users. The engineer will work closely with liquid handling platforms and automation equipment to ensure efficient laboratory workflows. This is an on-site position based in South San Francisco.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, and process improvement for an integrated robotic workcell (Biosero Green Button Go) for high-throughput cell-based assays
- Developing protocols and scripts on Hamilton Vantage liquid handlers
- Planning and executing experiments to validate automated assays on the integrated system and liquid handling platforms
- Training and providing ongoing support to end-users
- Producing high-quality documentation such as startup-guides, maintenance protocols and troubleshooting procedures
Key Skills:
- BS/MS in science or engineering discipline, with at least 4 years of industry experience
- Experience operating and programming workcells using Biosero's Green Button Go scheduler
- Experience with plate washers, sealers, robotic arms, incubators, and other peripheral automation equipment preferred
- Hands-on work with basic cell biology laboratory workflows
- Experience scripting liquid handling platforms (e.g. Hamilton Vantage, Agilent Bravo, or similar liquid handling platforms)
- Experience in one or more programming languages, such as Python, C#, or VBA
