Summary: The role of a KS3-KS4 Tutor involves providing face-to-face tutoring support to secondary school pupils in Newcastle, focusing on subjects such as Maths, English, and Science. Tutors are expected to create tailored lesson plans, assess student progress, and work collaboratively with educational stakeholders to enhance student outcomes. The position offers flexibility in managing one's own timetable and the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' learning and confidence. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications and ideally have a DBS on the update service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with small group cohorts from 1:1 - 1:6
- Creating lesson plans tailored to the student's learning style
- Assessing student progress, identifying areas for improvement and recording attainment levels using the internal reporting system
- Delivering engaging sessions to support a range of learning styles
- Driving measurable outcomes from each session to measure impact
- Working collaboratively with educational/care stakeholders ensuring student support
- Working in accordance with KCSIE and safeguarding guidelines
Key Skills:
- Inspirational, effective & flexible communication skills
- Competent IT skills, access to laptop/computer, audio and visual
- Stable broadband & internet connection
- Ability to develop meaningful relationships, encourage and motivate students
- Experience in tutoring one to one or small groups of pupils
- Experience working in inclusion units, special settings or alternative provisions
