Summary: The role of a KS3-KS4 Tutor involves providing face-to-face tutoring support to secondary school pupils in the Cumbria region, focusing on building their confidence and subject knowledge. Tutors will work with small groups or one-on-one, creating tailored lesson plans and assessing student progress. The position offers flexibility in managing one's timetable and the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with small group cohorts from 1:1 - 1:6
- Creating lesson plans tailored to the student's learning style
- Assessing student progress, identifying areas for improvement and recording attainment levels using the internal reporting system
- Delivering engaging sessions to support a range of learning styles
- Driving measurable outcomes from each session to measure impact
- Working collaboratively with educational/care stakeholders ensuring student support
- Working in accordance with KCSIE and safeguarding guidelines
Key Skills:
- Inspirational, effective & flexible communication skills
- Competent IT skills, access to laptop/computer, audio and visual
- Stable broadband & internet connection
- Ability to develop meaningful relationships, encourage and motivate students
- Experience in tutoring one-to-one or small groups of pupils
- Experience working in inclusion units, special settings or alternative provisions
- Experience in working with students with SEN or disengaged young people
