Junior Network Engineer

Base location: Glasgow, Havant, or Reading

Salary: up to 30,000 – £40,000 a year depending on experience + performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

Working Pattern:6 months FTC Full time with the option of hybrid working

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Network Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain hands-on experience in the design, build, and delivery of critical network infrastructure projects .You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers to deliver technical solutions across WAN, LAN, and security environments, playing an active role in both engineering execution and project delivery .Vetting/Clearance Level :To support Critical National Infrastructure, you may be required to complete a Security Check (SC clearance) .

Key Responsibilitie sAs a Junior Network Engineer, your role will cover the following areas :

• Design, build, and configure network infrastructure solutions as part of project deliver y
• Support the implementation of routers, switches, firewalls, and WAN technologies across multi-vendor environment s
• Assist with remote builds, staging, and deployment of customer solution s
• Work closely with project managers to deliver projects on time, ensuring technical requirements are me t
• Perform testing, validation, and documentation of deployed solution s
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project implementatio n
• Participate in change activities, including out-of-hours work where require d
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project outcome s
• Produce and maintain build guides and handover documentatio n

What do I nee d?The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in networking or IT infrastructure, with a keen interest in hands-on engineering and project deliver y.A CCNA qualification or equivalent (e.g. Juniper or similar certification) is highly desirabl e.

You will need the following skill s:

• Hands-on or lab-based experience with routing and switching technologi es
• Familiarity with Cisco IOS / IOS-XE and enterprise networking hardwa re
• Also a good understanding o f:
• Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tre e)
• Layer 3 technologies (OSPF, BGP, subnetting, ACLs, VRF s)
• Exposure to firewalls and security appliances (configuration, upgrades, policie s)
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skil ls
• Ability to interpret technical designs and translate them into build/configuration tas ks
• Good communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholde rs

Desirab le:

• Experience or exposure to multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Aru ba)
• Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies or modern network architectu res
• Exposure to data centre networking (VXLAN, EV PN)
• Understanding of network security princip les
• Awareness of project delivery frameworks (Agile, PRINC E2)
