Summary: The Junior Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor role in Motherwell, Scotland, is a fixed-term position aimed at developing HSE professionals. The advisor will implement and maintain HSE policies while ensuring compliance with regulations and supporting the management of HSE systems. This position offers hands-on experience in a regulated environment under the supervision of an HSE Supervisor. The role is ideal for candidates with a relevant degree and some prior experience in HSE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain company HSE policies in line with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety legislation.
- Participate in the planning and development of facilities, work areas, and procedures to enhance HSE standards.
- Support the creation, maintenance, and review of HSE policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Assist in the management and upkeep of HSE systems and practices.
- Serve as a point of contact with external regulatory agencies and authorities.
- Stay up to date on changes in relevant legislation and advise the business accordingly.
- Work under direct supervision and follow pre-established guidelines and instructions.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a junior HSE role or relevant internship/work placement.
- Recognised HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) - essential.
- Strong understanding of industry regulations, standards, and practices.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
