Junior DevOps Engineer

Posted 3 weeks ago by Sellick Partnership

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join a technology team based in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate, junior engineer or someone at the beginning of their DevOps/Cloud career who wants to gain hands-on commercial experience working with AWS, Azure and modern DevOps technologies.

You do not need to be an experienced DevOps Engineer.

We are looking for someone with a good technical foundation, some exposure to cloud technologies and, most importantly, a willingness to learn and develop.

What You'll Be Doing

  • You'll work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to areas including:
  • AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud environments
  • CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
  • Infrastructure and cloud environments
  • Automation and scripting
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Supporting development and engineering teams
  • Following DevOps and cloud best practices
  • Working within a collaborative Agile environment

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in graduates and junior-level candidates who have some exposure to AWS and/or Azure.

This could have been gained through:

A Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing or related degree

A placement year or internship

A graduate scheme or junior technology role

University projects

AWS or Azure certifications

Personal cloud/DevOps projects

Exposure to any of the following would also be beneficial:

AWS

Microsoft Azure

Linux

Git / GitHub / GitLab

CI/CD

Terraform or Infrastructure as Code

Docker or Kubernetes

Python, Bash or PowerShell

You do not need experience across all of these technologies.

Security Clearance

Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) due to the nature of the project.

Existing SC clearance is advantageous but not essential.

If you do not currently hold SC clearance but are unsure whether you may be eligible, you can review the official UK Government guidance on national security vetting and Security Check (SC) requirements.

Why Apply?

This is a strong opportunity to get your foot in the door within DevOps and Cloud Engineering, build commercial experience across both AWS and Azure and work alongside experienced engineers.

If you're a graduate or junior technologist looking to build a long-term career in Cloud, DevOps or Platform Engineering, we'd be keen to hear from you.
