Data Engineer - SFIA Level 3 - SC Cleared
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a large-scale public sector data programme, supporting the development and maintenance of secure, scalable data services.
The role would suit an engineer with strong Java and Python capability, alongside practical experience working with event-driven and containerised platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data engineering solutions using Java and Python.
- Build and support data pipelines and processing services.
- Work with Kafka for event-driven data processing and streaming.
- Deploy and support services within Kubernetes environments.
- Contribute to testing, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of data services.
- Work collaboratively with senior engineers, DevOps and wider delivery teams.
- Follow established engineering, security and coding standards.
Essential skills
- Commercial Java development experience.
- Strong Python skills.
- Practical experience with Apache Kafka.
- Experience working with Kubernetes.
- Understanding of modern data engineering and software engineering practices.
- Comfortable working within Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
Security: Candidates must hold appropriate SC clearance for the engagement.
