Summary: The Java Technical Lead role involves leading the design and development teams for a global IT services supplier, based in Bournemouth, UK. This hybrid position requires attendance at the office 1-2 days per week and focuses on mentoring team members while managing the project life-cycle. The contract is temporary, lasting over 6 months, and aims to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development teams through the entire project life-cycle from understanding the business requirements, conducting any necessary proofs of concept, test support and implementation support
- Produce detailed design documents in conjunction with Solution Architects, Technical Architects and Infrastructure Designers, providing the lead in Software Design that commensurate with the designated architecture and infrastructure
- Manage and support other team members in the production of necessary documentation throughout the life-cycle
- Work with the Business Stakeholders to ensure that documentation such as requirements definitions and user stories are complete and are suitable for the development team members
- Suggest and communicate well thought and creative solutions that deliver greater business benefit
- Mentor the entire team and organise the mentoring of more junior members of the team by more senior members in line with current and planned projects and technologies
- Involve in coding for about 50% of the capacity
Key Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience developing Java applications for both web and middle ware using both Spring 5 or higher and Java 11 or higher
- Detailed knowledge of all the other software development technologies that are in use in the projects for which the Technical Lead is responsible (such as Spring boot, MVC, integration, Spring Security experience (OAuth2), Azure Cloud experience) as well as the ability to learn new technologies that are planned for the future
- Detailed knowledge of web services is mandatory and must cover both SOAP and RESTful services
- Sound knowledge of design patterns and able to describe them in detail and communicate them to all other team members as well as other roles such as Project/Program Managers, Solutions Architects and Technical Architects
- Good understanding of UK insurance market
- Must be able to competently communicate both in writing and in Technical Team meetings providing technical support for Scrum-Masters and other team members
- Must keep up to date with compliance requirements

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Java Technical Lead to be based at their client's office in Bournemouth, UK.
This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Bournemouth office 1-2 days per week .
This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start asap
Day rate: Competitive Market rate
