Summary: The Java GCP Engineer role involves designing and reviewing solutions based on project requirements, executing development activities, and ensuring timely delivery of projects within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for a Payments Data Platform. The position requires hands-on experience with GCP technologies, particularly Pub/Sub, and a strong understanding of Java Spring Boot, Apache Beam, and database management. The engineer will also participate in a support rota and must be able to communicate effectively and work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review solutions according to project requirements.
- Execute project-specific development activities in line with standards and quality parameters.
- Develop and review code, ensuring the right environment is set up for projects.
- Ensure timely delivery by adhering to engineering and quality standards.
- Deliver end-to-end projects within GCP for Payments Data Platform.
- Participate in support rota for GCP, available once a month for a week.
- Handle P1 violations and incidents effectively.
- Follow Agile methodologies and support developed code in production environments.
Key Skills:
- Hands-on experience with GCP Pub/Sub.
- Knowledge of shell scripting and Python is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of Java Spring Boot.
- Experience with Apache Beam and Data Flow.
- Experience managing large databases such as Big Table, Big Query, and Cloud Storage Buckets.
- Understanding of Payments ISO standards and message types.
- Ability to work under pressure and communicate fluently in written and verbal forms.
- Flexibility to support developed code in production environments.
