The Opportunity
We are seeking a Java Full Stack Engineer with experience working within Investment Management, to join our client, a global investment management business, on an initial 6 months contract in London.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development and optimisation of Front Office applications within a leading investment management environment. Working closely with portfolio managers, product owners and cross-functional technology teams, you will play a key role in delivering scalable, high-performing applications that support investment and trading workflows.
We are looking for a strong Java Full Stack engineer with hands-on experience in React or Angular, alongside a background working within the investment management or financial services industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and optimise Front Office applications, with a strong focus on Java Back End engineering and full-stack development.
- Build and maintain scalable, distributed microservices and robust API integrations.
- Develop and enhance user-facing applications using React or Angular.
- Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, product owners and technology teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Contribute to system design, architecture decisions, code reviews and automated testing.
- Support application deployments across development, testing and production environments, including production issue resolution.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support application performance and reliability.
- Follow established development standards, security policies and CI/CD practices, driving continuous improvement across the technology landscape.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience in Java Back End development.
- Hands-on experience with React or Angular in a full-stack engineering capacity.
- Previous experience working within the investment management, asset management or wider financial services industry.
- Experience building distributed systems, microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Strong understanding of system design, scalable architecture and software engineering best practices.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
Desirable experience
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Knowledge of investment products, portfolio management and trading workflows.
- Experience developing applications supporting Front Office investment teams.
