Summary: The role of Java Developer with Very Strong SQL is focused on contributing to a multi-year Disclosure of Interest (DOI) program within the Global Regulatory Disclosures Team in Glasgow. The position requires hands-on technical expertise in Java and SQL, with an emphasis on agile methodologies and collaboration with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle and provide technical support for regulatory reporting obligations across multiple regions. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with diverse teams and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software products for the DOI program.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and Agile ceremonies.
- Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, and team members to refine requirements.
- Engage in various phases of the software development lifecycle including requirement clarification, system implementation, testing, deployment, and post-deployment support.
- Interact with business stakeholders within Operations and other areas of the firm.
- Provide technical support for the Europe and Asia Operations team regarding regulatory reporting obligations.
- Communicate effectively with different systems involved in the DOI program.
Key Skills:
- Proficient experience in Java and related technologies.
- Experience with common Java frameworks and technologies, particularly Spring, Angular, and Spark.
- Experience with web services, particularly REST.
- Familiarity with testing methodologies including unit tests, integration tests, and regression tests.
- Strong data analytical skills (SQL).
- Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desired experience with Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, and Scala.

The Role
- Our team is looking for an experienced Java developer for their multi-year Disclosure of Interest (DOI) program. This is a hands-on technical role based out of Glasgow. Joining the Global Regulatory Disclosures Team,
- You will be at the vanguard of the multi-year global renovation program to transform the way the firm reports and manages its equity holdings.
- You'll join in an agile team aiming to deliver software products in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- You'll actively participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies. You'll work closely with product owners, scrum masters and other team members to refine requirements, participate in various phases of software development lifecycle including requirement clarification, system implementation, testing, deployment and post deployment support.
- You will interact with our business stakeholders within both Operations and other areas of the firm; including other engineering groups and production support teams.
- You will serve as technical support for the Europe and Asia Operations team responsible for covering multiple regulatory reporting obligations and other monitoring, as in the Amended Transparency Directive, implemented in 40+ countries.
- Working on the DOI program is a unique window into the enterprise-wide array of businesses that comprise our, successful candidate is expected to have effective communication skills to handle discussions with different systems that DOI is working together with.
