Summary: A leading tier 1 investment bank is seeking Java developers for a 12-month contract in Glasgow. The role involves core server-side Java development to support the equity swaps business within a global front office team. Candidates will work in an agile environment, developing Java services that produce real-time product outputs. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop core server-side Java applications supporting the equity swaps business.
• Collaborate within an agile squad to deliver solutions for complex requirements.
• Engage with demanding stakeholders to provide architectural solutions.
• Utilize Java services and messaging systems to produce real-time outputs.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Key Skills:

• Core server-side Java including Data Structures and Concurrency.
• Experience in an agile environment.
• Multi-threaded Java programming.
• Proficiency in Spring and Junit.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with relational databases (preferably Sybase and/or DB2) and SQL query writing.
• Understanding of message-based architectures.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Full SDLC experience and understanding.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• In-depth financial business knowledge is a plus.
