Summary: The role is for two Java Developers to join a leading investment bank in Birmingham on 6-12 month contracts. Candidates should possess strong skills in Java 11+, Spring, Microservices Architecture, and have a background in Banking or Financial Services. The position requires excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The roles are on-site, requiring presence in the Birmingham office five days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications using Java 11+, Spring, and Microservices Architecture.
- Utilize Kafka for messaging and MongoDB for data storage.
- Participate in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and project follow-through.
- Contribute to test automation efforts using tools like JUnit and Mocking.
Key Skills:
- 4+ years of Java Development experience.
- Strong skills in Java 11+ and Spring.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with Kafka and MongoDB.
- Strong understanding of SDLC.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and self-motivated.
- Experience with Gitlab and test automation is a plus.
Salary (Rate): £63.00/hr

I am looking for two Java Developers to work for a World leading Investment bank located in Birmingham on 6-12 month contracts. You will be an experienced Java Developer with strong skills in Java 11+, Spring, Microservices Architecture, Kafka, Mongo DB, SDLC and a previous Banking or Financial Services background.
Skills:
- 4+ years of Java Development experience
- Java 11+
- Spring
- Experience working with microservices architecture
- Kafka for messaging - to some extent or equivalent
- MongoDB - to some extent or equivalent
- Strong understanding of SDLC
- Excellent communication and follow-through, analytical, self-motivated, attention to detail
Nice to haves:
- Gitlab - experience with others is generally fine, they can learn Gitlab
- Test automation (JUnit, Mocking, Gherkin) - candidate does not need deep expertise in all, should have some general experience in automation
