Java Developer - Front/Middle office

A leading global financial services organisation is looking for a talented Full Stack Java Developer to join its dynamic technology team. This is a great opportunity to work on high-impact applications in the Middle Office space within a collaborative DevOps environment.

This role is based in Glasgow with 5 days week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure applications.
* Contribute across the full development lifecycle: analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support.
* Apply architectural and design principles across systems and services.
* Take part in Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups.
* Design and build responsive UI components with an appreciation for user experience.
* Implement and maintain automated test strategies including TDD with JUnit.
* Work across the full stack - from database and Back End services to the Front End interface.
* Drive continuous improvement in development practices, tools, and delivery processes.

Technical/Functional Skills - Must Have:
* Proficiency in Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, REST, JSON, and 12-Factor App methodology.
* Strong experience with RDBMS (preferably Microsoft SQL or Oracle).
* Messaging technologies such as IBM MQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.
* Exposure to cloud-based platforms (internal or external).
* Experience working in a DevOps environment is preferred.
* Familiarity with microservice architecture and design patterns.
* Competence in UI development using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and HTTP protocols.

Additional Desirable Skills:
* Understanding of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
* Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Maven and Jenkins.
* Strong object-oriented design and programming skills.
* Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies.
