Overview
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-profile Government programme. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable applications within an agile delivery environment, working alongside architects, product teams, and DevOps engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based applications and services.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Contribute to solution design, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment activities.
- Ensure solutions meet security, performance, and accessibility standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Java (Java 11/17+).
- Experience developing Spring Boot applications.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Familiarity with Git, Maven/Gradle, and modern development practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Good understanding of testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
Desirable Skills
- Experience within Government or Public Sector programmes.
- Knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Exposure to GDS standards and secure-by-design development practices.
