The Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Revenue Platform Team for a 6-month maternity cover. In this role, you will own the execution of technical elements within the Booking.com tech stack, driving the implementation of high-quality technical solutions that directly impact our revenue streams. This is a heavy backend role focused on high-scale systems. You will be expected to hit the ground running, picking up our domain and tech stack quickly to maintain a sustainable pace of development alongside a collaborative team of developers, product managers, and testers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Execution: Build, refactor, and simplify software applications with a high quality of craft.
  • System Ownership: Own services end-to-end, monitoring application health, performance, and reliability in production.
  • Technical Incident Management: Resolve live production issues within SLA and produce long-term solutions via root cause analysis.
  • Ways of Working: Actively participate in Pair Programming and Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure the quality of test automation matches production code.
  • Collaborative Design: Work with cross-functional roles to design and prioritize technical tasks that meet business requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Tech Stack Split: Proficient in a 50/50 split of Java and TypeScript (Main services in Java; Lambdas in TypeScript).
