Summary: The role of ITSM/Release Management Consultant involves leading a discovery engagement for a public sector client, focusing on assessing and improving release management processes. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders to map current processes, identify risks, and develop a roadmap for enhancements. This position requires a strong understanding of ITIL best practices and the ability to produce comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a structured discovery phase over 6-8 weeks
- Conduct interviews and facilitate workshops with stakeholders across digital, IT, and service management teams
- Map current-state release management processes, governance, and tooling
- Perform a maturity and gap analysis against ITIL v4 frameworks
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
- Develop clear process documentation, visuals, and findings
- Produce and present a Discovery Report with actionable recommendations
Key Skills:
- Proven experience leading ITSM or Release Management discovery phases
- Strong understanding of ITIL v4 (Foundation certification preferred)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Ability to produce clear, high-quality reports and process documentation
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow (or similar)
- Strong analytical skills, with a pragmatic and delivery-focused mindset
