IT Network Engineer

Summary: The role of IT Network Engineer involves developing and delivering future network architecture for a large London Borough, focusing on both physical and wireless networks, as well as core services like DNS and DHCP. The position requires evaluation, prototyping, design, and development of network services to meet various operational requirements. The role is contract-based with hybrid working arrangements and is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, prototype, design, and develop new and changed network services.
• Ensure services meet functional, security, performance, scalability, and business continuity requirements.
• Develop technical lifecycle management processes for network services.
• Manage and support network services efficiently and effectively.

Key Skills:

• Relevant experience in network engineering.
• Cisco Certification.
• Cisco Wireless experience.
• Experience with DNA, ISE, and SDN (desirable).
• Hands-on experience in a multi-site enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of scalable, hierarchical models for LANs and WANs.
• Hands-on knowledge of Cisco routers and switches.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, including VLANs and layer 2/3 switching/routing.
• Previous experience with a London Borough Council (highly desired).
