Summary: The IT Major Incident Manager role involves leading the response to major incidents across various IT domains within a large multinational financial services firm. The position requires effective communication and coordination to ensure rapid service restoration while managing stakeholder expectations. The role is contract-based for 6 months, with the possibility of extension up to 18 months, and operates in a hybrid work setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and command Major Incident response across infrastructure, applications, cloud, network, identity, data, and third-party services, ensuring rapid and controlled service restoration.
- Establish and maintain clear incident management structure, including roles, communication channels, escalation paths, and Real Time coordination of technical teams and vendors.
- Drive resolution activities by removing blockers, managing dependencies, and coordinating SMEs to restore services as quickly as possible.
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely stakeholder communications, translating technical detail into business impact, status updates, and recovery actions for senior leadership.
- Conduct rapid risk and impact assessments covering operational, regulatory, security, and business continuity considerations, ensuring appropriate escalation and mitigation decisions.
- Maintain detailed incident records, ensure disciplined documentation of actions and decisions, and deliver structured handovers in a follow-the-Sun operating model, including post-incident support where required.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years' experience managing Major Incidents in a large-scale, 24/7 production environment, ideally within financial services.
- Strong expertise in ITIL, Incident Management, Major Incident Management, Project Delivery, and ITIL Security Management.
- Proven experience acting as Incident Commander in high-pressure operational environments with rapid decision-making responsibility.
- Strong understanding of enterprise technology environments, including cloud, networks, infrastructure, databases, identity, and distributed systems.
- Good awareness of cybersecurity and operational risk, with the ability to assess potential security impact during live incidents.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders.
