Summary: The IT Governance Business Analyst role involves supporting a governance, compliance, and operational improvement program within an IT organization. The position requires hands-on documentation and embedding of governance processes while collaborating with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in translating operational realities into structured governance frameworks. This is a 12-month contract position that is outside IR35 and offers hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with technical and business stakeholders to understand current IT operating practices
- Document and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across IT services and platforms
- Establish clear service ownership and accountability models
- Rationalise existing governance documentation, policies and controls
- Create and maintain governance artefacts that support audit and compliance requirements
- Map controls against recognised frameworks including ISO27001 and NIS2
- Support audit readiness activities and evidence collection processes
- Define governance reporting, KPIs and service assurance metrics
- Identify governance gaps, risks and areas of operational improvement
- Work closely with IT, Risk, Audit and Compliance teams to drive consistency and accountability
- Reduce dependency on key individuals through improved documentation and governance processes
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Governance Consultant, IT Governance Specialist or similar role
- Strong process mapping and documentation skills
- Experience creating SOPs, operational procedures and governance artefacts
- Experience working within regulated or audit-driven environments
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of IT controls, risk management and compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting audits and compliance reviews

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Governance Business Analyst to support a major governance, compliance and operational improvement programme across their IT organisation.
This is a hands-on role focused on documenting, rationalising and embedding governance processes across a complex IT environment. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams, service owners, compliance stakeholders and senior management to capture existing processes, identify gaps and create sustainable governance frameworks that support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
This assignment would suit an experienced Technical Business Analyst, Governance Consultant or IT Governance professional who enjoys translating operational reality into structured processes, controls and documentation.
