Job Overview
We are looking for Telecoms Field Engineers to support the Scottish Power (SPEN OTP) project.
The role involves installing, commissioning, maintaining, and supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure across Scotland, including interfaces with Scottish Power, SSEN, and National Grid networks.
Engineers will work alongside project teams delivering field engineering, first-line support, maintenance, commissioning, and network assurance activities while ensuring compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and maintain telecoms and networking equipment.
- Deliver field engineering and 24x7 first-line support activities.
- Install DC chargers, power equipment racks, cable containment and structured cabling.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco and Alcatel networking equipment.
- Support LAN, WAN and MPLS networks.
- Perform fibre, pilot cable and circuit testing (PDH, SDH, IP).
- Conduct site surveys, maintenance inspections and risk assessments.
- Produce installation, commissioning and handover documentation.
- Ensure work is completed safely, on time and to customer quality standards.
Mandatory Skills
- Telecoms Field Engineering experience.
- Installation & commissioning of telecoms/network equipment.
- Strong IP Networking (LAN, WAN, MPLS).
- Cisco and/or Alcatel Switches & Routers.
- PDH, SDH, Commtel, Microwave Radio technologies.
- DC & AC power systems.
- Fibre optic and telecom cabling installation & termination.
- Network maintenance, troubleshooting and first-line support.
- Microsoft Office & Teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
