Summary: The role of IT Engineer involves supporting CCTV deployments and communications cabinet remediation within enterprise network environments for a leading retailer. The Infrastructure Engineer will focus on preparing network racks and comms rooms, ensuring compliance with operational standards while working within live Cisco network environments. Experience with Cisco infrastructure and Software Defined Access (SDA) is advantageous for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performed comms cabinet remediation to prepare racks for CCTV and network equipment installations.
  • Executed port purge activities, identifying and removing unused, redundant, or abandoned cabling from communications rooms.
  • Conducted rack space optimisation, repositioning or removing equipment to create sufficient installation clearance.
  • Removed legacy telecoms infrastructure, including obsolete voice panels, modules, and mounting bars obstructing switch access.
  • Completed space remediation to improve rack capacity, airflow, and cabinet organisation.
  • Delivered structured cabling remediation, removing redundant cabling and improving cable routing.
  • Cleared patch panel and cable management obstructions to restore structured cabling pathways.
  • Implemented best practice cable management, improving accessibility, maintenance, and airflow.
  • Ensured racks were configured for efficient equipment installation, airflow optimisation, and operational access.
  • Prepared cabinets to support CCTV NVRs, switches, and associated network infrastructure.
