Summary: The IT Support Engineer role involves providing first-line support and managing laptop/desktop builds for a significant device refresh project. The position requires handling support requests, resolving IT issues, and collaborating with various departments. This is a contract position based in Felsted, requiring onsite presence. The role offers a pay rate of up to £25 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle support requests via phone and email.
  • Resolve IT issues and provide user training.
  • Install, configure, and maintain PCs, printers, and network devices.
  • Monitor and maintain IT hardware and software.
  • Manage software licences.
  • Liaise with vendors and external service providers.
  • Collaborate with the Works Department on IT specifications.
  • Participate in a call-out rota and work one Saturday morning a month.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as needed.

Key Skills:

  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows (10).
  • Experience with PC hardware configuration (MDT/WDS).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of FreeBSD, GNU/Linux, and Apple Macs (desirable).
  • Hardware repair and software troubleshooting skills (desirable).
  • Must complete a DBS check.
