Summary: The IT Consultant role at the General Dental Council involves supporting the IT Director in enhancing core IT processes across various domains, including IT Operations and Software Development. The position requires both tactical and strategic improvements to the IT function, ensuring effective service delivery and capacity planning. The consultant will also manage relationships with suppliers and develop IT policies and standards. This is a fixed-term contract with a hybrid working arrangement based in Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the IT Director in developing core IT processes across IT Operations, IT Infrastructure, Software Development, and Solutions Architecture.
- Identify and implement improvements to IT Service Desk, IT Operations, IT Infrastructure, and Software Development.
- Assist the Enterprise Operations Manager in managing day-to-day service delivery and capacity planning.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Review, develop, and implement IT policies and architectural standards.
- Ensure sufficient system capacity and timely renewal plans for obsolete technologies.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as an IT Manager or Head of IT.
- Senior stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and computer hardware/software systems, including ITIL concepts.
- Experience in analyzing IT function effectiveness and aligning it with business operations.
- Hands-on experience with computer networks and network administration.
- Ability to manage IT service desk and networking functions effectively.
Salary (Rate): £62,017
