Summary: The role of Deputy Team Manager (DTM) in Islington's Adult Learning Disabilities Team involves supervising and supporting social workers, managing complex cases, and collaborating with various agencies to ensure high-quality care for adults with learning disabilities. This position is ideal for an experienced Senior Social Worker or an established DTM seeking new challenges in a leadership capacity. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support up to 5 Social Workers within the team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and reflective supervision to team members.
  • Ensure high-quality practice through case audits, QA, and professional development.
  • Hold a small caseload of complex cases involving adults with learning disabilities.
  • Oversee Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments (MCA), and Best Interest Decisions (BIA).
  • Develop and review support plans and risk management strategies.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals, housing teams, and voluntary services.
  • Support the team in managing safeguarding concerns and ensuring compliance with adult safeguarding legislation.
  • Contribute to service development and quality assurance initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
  • Strong experience in adult social care, learning disabilities, and safeguarding.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a social care setting.
  • Excellent understanding of the Care Act 2014, MCA 2005, and DoLS.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring best practices.
