Summary: PH Jones is seeking an experienced IS Quality Assurance Specialist for a temporary 12-month contract within their IS team. The role involves hybrid working, requiring collaboration with developers and conducting various quality assurance tests to ensure software meets specified standards. Key responsibilities include defining acceptance criteria, contributing to automation, and performing user acceptance testing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in testing applications built with C#, .Net, SQL, and Azure, along with knowledge of automated testing frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside developers from refinement through to release.
- Help define clear, testable acceptance criteria before build starts.
- Identify risks early and improve sprint predictability.
- Contribute to automation and CI/CD quality gates.
- Reduce regressions and improve overall delivery quality.
- Conduct a wide range of quality control tests and analyses.
- Perform quality assurance and testing in a state-of-the-art software applications environment.
- Draft, revise and approve test plans and scripts.
- Create test data files with valid and invalid records.
- Collaborate with users to plan user acceptance testing.
- Ensure that system tests are successfully completed and documented.
- Participate fully in sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement.
- Design and execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
- Develop and maintain automated test coverage where appropriate.
- Log high-quality, reproducible defects and validate fixes.
- Support release confidence through smoke and non-functional testing.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience testing applications built with C#, .Net, SQL, and Azure.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Experience writing automated tests in C# or another object-oriented language.
- Knowledge of CI and CD pipelines, such as Azure DevOps pipelines or GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of performance testing or security testing concepts.
- Experience testing mobile applications using device simulators or tools like Appium.
- ISTQB Foundation or equivalent testing certification.
- Microsoft Azure fundamentals certification (desirable).

PH Jones are looking for an experienced IS Quality Assurance Specialist to join our busy IS team. Temporary Assignment - 12 month contract You will be contracted and employed through our preferred agency partner. This is a hybrid role, working from home and from our Stockport office when required. Your shift will fall between 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday, you’ll be advised of your 37 hours weekly shift during your training period.
Overview: Working as an IS Quality Assurance Specialist with PH Jones , your key accountabilities will be but are not limited to:
- Working alongside developers from refinement through to release
- Help define clear, testable acceptance criteria before build starts
- Identify risks early and improve sprint predictability
- Contribute to automation and CI/CD quality gates
- Reduce regressions and improve overall delivery quality
- Conducting a wide range of quality control tests and analyses, to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end user requirements
- Perform quality assurance and testing in an environment that typically uses state-of-the-art software applications testing processes (i.e., testing "clean room") but may also include manual QA/Testing
- Draft, revise and approve test plans and scripts to ensure alignment with standards and IT strategy
- Create test data files with valid and invalid records to thoroughly test program logic and verify system flow
- Collaborate with users to plan user acceptance testing, alpha and beta testing
- Ensure that system tests are successfully completed and documented and all problems are resolved
- May develop, revise and approve quality assurance and testing policies, standards and procedures
- Participate fully in sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement
- Design and execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing
- Develop and maintain automated test coverage where appropriate
- Log high-quality, reproducible defects and validate fixes
- Support release confidence through smoke and non-functional testing
The Person Must have extensive demonstratable experience in the following:
- Experience testing applications built with C#, .Net, SQL and Azure.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress or similar.
- Experience writing automated tests in C# or another object oriented language.
- Knowledge of CI and CD pipelines, for example Azure DevOps pipelines or GitHub Actions.
