Summary: The IP Transmission Engineer role at MBNL involves managing and maintaining the IP transmission network to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This 6-month hybrid contract requires significant experience in telecommunications network operations, particularly with Huawei and Cisco equipment. The position is based in either Warrington or Solihull, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support seamless service delivery and resolve network issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the IP transmission network to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Huawei and Cisco Layer 3 switches, utilizing both CLI and GUI for network operations.
  • Implement and support IPv4 addressing, static and dynamic routing, and routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
  • Handle network change requests and maintenance activities using BMC Remedy, ensuring compliance with ITIL change management processes.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including NOC, network planning, and operations, to support seamless service delivery.
  • Analyse and resolve network faults, service degradations, and transmission issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and execute network configuration scripts to automate and optimize operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and change logs.

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience in IP transmission/network operations within a telecommunications network operator.
  • Strong knowledge of IPv4 addressing, static and dynamic routing, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using BMC Remedy for managing network changes and incident tracking.
  • Good understanding of the ITIL change management process and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Huawei and Cisco Layer 3 switches, including CLI and GUI-based configurations.
  • Certifications such as CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or HCIP (Huawei Certified ICT Professional).
  • Experience in network automation and scripting for configuration management.
  • Familiarity with MPLS and SD-WAN solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage critical network incidents effectively.
