Summary: The Investment Accounting Analyst role at Aspen involves providing support to the investment accounting team through Business as Usual (BAU) activities and project workload relief. The position requires a qualified ACA/ACCA professional with experience in the insurance and asset management sectors. Key responsibilities include journal preparation, reconciliation activities, and managing financial disclosures. The role is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement and is a 6-month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist accounting team to perform BAU activities monthly and quarterly, including but not limited to:
  • Journal preparation and posting to Company General Ledger system
  • Reconciliation activities among custodians and investment managers and outsourced accountant and queries resolutions
  • Handle data from outsourced accounting provider
  • Help with audit queries from Auditors
  • Manage various reports for internal / external reporting within deadline
  • FX rate testing
  • To perform SOX testing on financials
  • Produce various financial disclosure files required
  • Preparation for regulatory reporting
  • Resolve queries from entity finance team
  • To handle and procure data requests from project managers on ongoing projects within the team
  • Invoice processing
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as required

Key Skills:

  • ACA/ ACCA qualified essential
  • Experience / understanding of the insurance industry and asset management
  • Have worked in finance departments in insurance or asset managers
  • Basic knowledge of Lloyd's and London Market
  • Good understanding of accounting treatment for investment products like fixed income instruments, debt instruments, FX contracts, repurchase agreements, private placements
  • Familiar with US GAAP, IFRS
  • Excellent data handling skills
  • Good exposure to inhouse and outsourced accounting operating model
  • Fast learner with strong work ethic

Job Title: Investment Accounting Analyst

Location: London (hybrid working)

Role Type: 6 month contract

Role Purpose: To provide Business as Usual ("BAU") and project workload relief to the investment accounting team of Aspen. Our Aspen Values are expected to be reflected in the delivery and performance of every role.
