Summary: The Intermediate Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for developing complex dashboards and visual analytics using Power BI, while collaborating with business users and data architects to manage data pipelines. The role requires translating business requirements into analytical solutions and providing training to ensure BI tool adoption. The position is remote or hybrid, based in Edmonton, Alberta, and classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • XXgn and develop complex dashboards, scorecards, and visual analytics using Power BI.
  • Develop and maintain data models and visualizations using Power BI and Azure-based data platforms.
  • Create optimized, reusable data models using DAX and Power Query M for enterprise-wide reporting.
  • Build interactive dashboards tailored to business needs.
  • IntegXX Power BI with Microsoft Azure data sources and on-premises databases.
  • CollaboXX with business users, data architects, and engineers to manage data pipelines, staging areas, and semantic models.
  • Gather reporting requirements and KPIs from business units.
  • Translate business questions into BI solutions and present findings in executive-friendly formats.
  • Provide training and support to ensure BI tool adoption.
  • Maintain and publish datasets and dashboards in Power BI Service with scheduled refreshes and alerts.
  • Optimize dashboards and implement performance tuning stXXgies.
  • Implement security and access controls including row-level security (RLS) and incremental data refresh.
  • Conduct deep-dive analytics to uncover trends, anomalies, and business opportunities.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security compliance.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Key Skills:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and communicating findings to stakeholders.
  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and optimizing Power BI solutions with complex datasets.
  • 4+ years of experience using advanced Power BI visualization techniques and storytelling.
  • 1+ year of experience with Azure Databricks using Medallion Architecture and Unity Catalog for data governance.
  • 4+ years of experience analyzing large datasets for trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools.
  • 4+ years of experience with SQL for data transformation and analytical processing.
  • 1+ year of experience building data products in a government cloud environment.
  • 4+ years of experience developing advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and time intelligence features.
  • 2+ years of experience using Power BI Service features including data refresh, workspaces, and RLS.
  • 4+ years of experience communicating data-driven insights to executives in a government setting.
