Summary: The Interior Automotive Engineer will serve as a commodity owner within the Interior Engineering Team, responsible for delivering commodities to the respective programmer while collaborating with a multi-skilled technical delivery team. This role involves managing relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, ensuring project targets for quality, cost, and time are met, and acting as the primary contact for the Programme team. The engineer will also contribute to project cadence and communication, develop test plans, and ensure cross-functional requirements are integrated into module development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of the Engineering targets specifically for quality, cost and time (including support for sourcing activities)
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and optimisation of module component costs, investment, vendor tooling and design and development
  • Primary point of contact to the Programme team for your Programme/Commoditie(s)
  • Contribute to the overall project cadence and ensure transparent communication and escalation
  • Drive the creation and update of Commodity Plan(s), EBERs and other standard JLR documentation for gateway progression
  • Ensure effective collaboration and communication via weekly status reporting and KPI management
  • Monitor tasks across the life cycle of the project
  • Develop and deliver the test plan, confirm parts availability for all stages and ensure cross-functional requirements are integrated in module development
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Key Skills:

  • Experience of delivery of physical commodities to Quality Cost and Time
  • Significant Project Management experience
  • Comprehensive MS office (excel)
  • Experience of delivering and developing Interior commodities (desirable)
  • Experience in a low volume engineering environment at an OEM or tier 1 (desirable)
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred

Automotive Interior Engineer Operating as a commodity owner, within the Interior Engineering Team, deliver some commodities to your respective programmer with the support of an agile multi skilled technical delivery team. Contribute to the delivery of some or all modules (as applicable) including physical engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for vehicle programmes meeting all defined targets on cost, quality and time. You will operate as the single point of contact to the Programme team, as the INT engineering representative in Programme meetings.
