Summary: The Interim Year End Accountant role involves providing high-quality finance support during the statutory accounting process and annual audit for a public sector organization. The position requires a qualified accountant with strong technical skills to oversee financial reporting and improve financial controls. The contract is initially for 3-4 months with potential for extension and offers hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will report to a personable line manager and contribute significant value from the outset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate financial schedules and reporting prepared by the in-house finance team
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance on the organization's year-end audit process
  • Identify any areas for improvement in financial controls and processes
  • Offer technical guidance and training to the finance staff as needed

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant with at least three years post-qualification experience
  • Strong technical skills in financial reporting, audit, and accounting standards
  • Significant experience in a similar interim or consulting role
  • Ideally strong knowledge of IFRS16 and/or IFRS9
  • Solution-driven with the ability to quickly pick up new processes
