Summary: The Interim Year End Accountant role involves providing high-quality finance support during the statutory accounting process and annual audit for a public sector organization. The position requires a qualified accountant with strong technical skills to oversee financial reporting and improve financial controls. The contract is initially for 3-4 months with potential for extension and offers hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will report to a personable line manager and contribute significant value from the outset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and validate financial schedules and reporting prepared by the in-house finance team
- Provide oversight and quality assurance on the organization's year-end audit process
- Identify any areas for improvement in financial controls and processes
- Offer technical guidance and training to the finance staff as needed
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant with at least three years post-qualification experience
- Strong technical skills in financial reporting, audit, and accounting standards
- Significant experience in a similar interim or consulting role
- Ideally strong knowledge of IFRS16 and/or IFRS9
- Solution-driven with the ability to quickly pick up new processes
