Summary: The Interim Technical Accountant role involves supporting the year-end close and external audit process for a professional services business with a turnover of approximately £100m. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead preparation of year-end statutory accounts under UK GAAP / IFRS
- Own the audit process, acting as primary liaison with external auditors
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers and disclosures
- Support complex areas including revenue recognition, accruals, provisions, and judgments
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure audit-ready documentation
- Assist with responding to audit queries and resolving issues efficiently
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Strong technical accounting background with hands-on year-end and audit experience
- Previous experience within professional services or similar environments preferred
- Confident dealing directly with external auditors
- Able to hit the ground running in an interim capacity

A c.£100m turnover professional services business is seeking an experienced Interim Technical Accountant to support the year-end close and external audit process. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a hands-on role in ensuring timely, accurate statutory reporting and acting as the key point of contact for auditors. This role is well-suited to a technically strong accountant who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
