Interim Senior Responsible Officer (Pensions)

Reporting to the Corporate Director of Resources you will lead all aspects of LGPS management, including investments, administration, funding, governance and communications.

You will be responsible for Head of Treasury and Pensions, Head of Pensions Administration, overall responsibility for up to 25 staff.

Duties include:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Administering Authority’s day-to-day operations.
• Act as the principal adviser on treasury management, leading borrowing, lending and investment decisions.
• Ensure effective cash management arrangements are in place to support the Council’s financial objectives.
• Build strong relationships with elected members, employers, advisers, fund managers, regulators and key stakeholders.
• Prepare and present high-quality reports and recommendations to senior leaders, committees and pension boards.
• Drive excellence in governance, regulatory compliance and service delivery.

You will have extensive knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme and defined benefit pension arrangements, a strong understanding of the investment management landscape, significant senior-level experience within local government pensions, investments, treasury or related financial sectors, experience of providing strategic financial advice to senior officers, elected members, partners and formal committees.
