Summary: The role of Senior Legal Counsel involves providing high-level legal support for commercial contracts within a global legal team, specifically during a one-year maternity cover. The position requires close collaboration with senior stakeholders and entails reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex contracts while supporting various legal projects. The candidate will also manage external counsel and contribute to the development of legal templates and resources. This hybrid role is based in Wotton-under-Edge, requiring office presence three days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a key contact for senior stakeholders in various business units to influence and implement business strategy.
• Review, draft, and negotiate high-value, complex commercial contracts with customers and partners.
• Support L&S change projects aligned with business objectives across multiple disciplines.
• Assist operational and commercial functions with day-to-day legal queries.
• Maintain the L&S team’s templates, precedents, and other legal materials.
• Provide practical solutions to complex legal problems as a business partner.
• Procure and manage external specialist counsel as needed.
• Support senior legal team members in the UK and internationally.

Key Skills:

• Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with 8+ years of experience in commercial legal advice.
• Excellent technical knowledge of commercial law and strong drafting skills.
• Superior analytical skills and a creative approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the business.
• Impeccable integrity and leadership by example.
• Understanding of challenges in a fast-moving, revenue-generating business, preferably in manufacturing or engineering.
• Willingness to learn and share knowledge.
• Preferred experience in data protection, real estate, corporate governance, competition law, software licensing, and intellectual property.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.

Salary (Rate): £100,000.00
