Summary: This role is for an Interim Senior Finance Manager within a new Defence Business Unit, focusing on providing financial insights to support decision-making and business modeling. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home, based in Bristol. The role is full-time, inside IR35, and initially for a duration of 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing Directors / Heads of Business with accurate financial insights to drive decision-making, business modelling and scenario planning for defence contract(s).
  • Producing clear, meaningful reports showing contract performance and variances.
  • Gather and consolidate requirements from internal stakeholders (engineering team, project team, wider business).
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Building strong relationships with business leads and commercial team.
  • Supporting contract review and presenting to senior stakeholders.

Key Skills:

  • Strong Excel modelling and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred).
  • Experience of planning, forecasting, risk management, and scenario planning within a multidisciplinary business context at a strategic level.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a range of accounting roles in a similar environment.
  • Background in defence or aerospace sectors (desirable).
  • Knowledge of SSRO supply contracts (desirable).
  • Experience of multi-year / turnkey projects (desirable).
  • Finance modelling / stress test modelling (desirable).
  • Microsoft D365 F&O (desirable).
  • Project management (desirable).

ROLE PURPOSE: This is a high-impact role where you'll influence decisions and help shape the future business model for a new Defence Business Unit. You'll have the autonomy to lead your area, backed by strong governance and support. This role is full-time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home, based in Bristol. This role is inside IR35 and initially 6-months long.
