Summary: The Management Accountant role is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Leeds, requiring a motivated and technically proficient accountant to join a dynamic finance team. The position involves producing monthly management accounts, conducting variance analysis, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The successful candidate will also engage in finance transformation initiatives and mentor junior team members. Immediate availability is preferred for this impactful role within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality, proactive monthly management accounts for a key division, delivering insight into financial performance, and ensuring deadlines (WD7) are consistently met
- Provide detailed variance analysis to support business understanding of margin and profit performance
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, transparency and timely resolution of reconciling items
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities as required
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and external audit requirements
- Collaborate with external auditors, providing explanations and analysis as needed during the annual audit process
- Contribute to the production and review of statutory accounts for subsidiaries
- Actively engage in the business’s finance transformation programme, helping embed new systems and governance frameworks
- Mentor and support junior team members, promoting development and capability across the finance function
- Build strong cross-functional relationships within the business, acting as a valued finance business partner
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Proven experience in management accounting, with strong analytical and reporting skills
- Strong balance sheet and variance analysis experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Confident working independently and as part of a team in a hybrid/agile environment
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines and managing competing priorities
- Experience supporting audits and preparing/reviewing statutory accounts is desirable
