Summary: The role of Interim International Trade Compliance (ITC) Counsel/Specialist involves serving as the subject matter expert on export controls and sanctions within a leading global technology and communications group. Key Responsibilities:
- Providing strategic advice on export controls, sanctions, and trade compliance matters, including transaction and licence reviews.
- Advising senior leadership on emerging regulatory risks and supporting critical business decisions.
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contract language related to export control and sanctions obligations.
- Developing and maintaining group-level ITC policies, procedures, and training.
- Managing regulatory reporting requirements, such as frozen asset reporting.
- Overseeing ITC tools and supplier relationships, including third-party screening platforms.
- Monitoring changes in global trade laws and communicating business impacts to stakeholders.
Key Skills:
- 4+ years’ experience in sanctions, export control, or trade compliance, ideally gained within a multinational organisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and US export control and sanctions regimes.
- Experience advising on regulatory and operational aspects of international transactions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence advising senior leaders.
- A proactive, pragmatic, and business-focused approach.
- Experience in telecoms or adjacent sectors (e.g., logistics, technology, or infrastructure) preferred.

The Role
