Summary: The role of Interim HR Consultant in the Public Sector involves working with Grant Thornton's Agile Talent Community to support various public sector clients on a project basis. The consultant will engage in Human Resources, People Transformation, or Change Management projects, leveraging their expertise to enhance public sector operations and deliver key government policies. This position offers flexibility in project selection and working arrangements, with a focus on building long-term partnerships with clients. The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days on-site in Halifax, England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support public sector clients in Human Resources, People Transformation, or Change Management projects.
- Deliver insightful advice, analysis, or recommendations to stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Build and maintain trusted working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders.
- Engage in major transformation or restructuring programmes across large or complex organisations.
- Participate in the Agile Talent Community events for professional development and networking.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in the public sector, ideally within Human Resources or related fields.
- Demonstrable understanding of public sector operations and current policies.
- Experience in delivering or supporting major transformation programmes.
- Consulting experience (internal or external) is highly desirable.
- Ability to provide insightful advice and analysis to stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.

Joining the Agile Talent Community as an experienced Interim HR Consultant, you will have the freedom to work on projects that you choose, whether full or part-time to support our clients and internal teams on short-to-medium-term assignments.
Skills we are looking for
- Proven experience in the public sector(local government, central government or healthcare), ideally within Human Resources, People Transformation, or Change Management projects.
- Demonstrable understanding of public sector operations, current policies, and sector-specific challenges.
- Experience delivering or supporting major transformation or restructuring programmes across large or complex organisations.
- Consulting experience (internal or external) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to provide insightful advice, analysis, or recommendations to stakeholders, clients, or senior leaders.
