Summary: The Interim Head of Safety, Effectiveness & Compliance is a senior leadership role focused on enhancing quality and safety within a complex healthcare system. This position involves leading specialist teams in patient safety, health and safety, clinical audit, and medical devices while ensuring compliance with national standards. Key Responsibilities:

Are you a senior leader with a passion for driving quality and safety across complex healthcare systems? A respected NHS provider in the South East is seeking an experienced interim to take the lead on their safety, effectiveness, and compliance agenda.
ROLE - You’ll be responsible for leading multiple specialist teams—including patient safety, health and safety, clinical audit, and medical devices—embedding robust governance frameworks, and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. This is a pivotal leadership post, reporting into the senior governance structure. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with national standards, supporting incident investigations (including PSIRF), and delivering meaningful insights through thematic learning and risk triangulation.
EXPERIENCE - You must have a solid track record in healthcare governance and safety, ideally with prior experience working at Band 8b or above. Knowledge of Datix, PSIRF, and regulatory assurance reporting is essential. Experience with clinical audit strategies and health and safety compliance is also required.
Rate - Band 8b NO-HCAS - £38.30 per hour
