Interim Head of Finance | Charity sector, Cardiff | £70,000-£80,000 pro rata

Our client, a medium-sized Charity based in Cardiff, is seeking an experienced finance leader to support the team and wider organisation. Reporting to the CEO with responsibility for all aspects of the organisation's finances, for ensuring that all income and expenditure are managed and monitored systematically and inline with organisational standards and Charity SORP.

Responsibilities:

  • To work with the CEO, Trustees and wider Executive team to safeguard and enhance financial performance and sustainability, advising on matters of business support, compliance and financial risk to ensure that the Charity's objectives are met.
  • Ensure that financial strategies aligned with the charity's overall business goals to drive growth and profitability. This should include consideration of commercial opportunities for the charity, risk assessment of new business ventures, collation of evidence from all areas of the charity, and in partnership with the CEO, development of a final assessment of levels of organisational risk on which the charity can take decisions.
  • Oversee the operation of the Finance function, ensuring that all financial and management accounting requirements are met and that all reporting procedures relating to banking, payroll, HMRC, pensions, investments, reserves and cashflows are maintained.
  • Manage and support the finance team and oversee the timely production and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, budgets and projections, both for the organisation and for all functions, providing advice and analysis to Trustees, Senior Leadership Team, managers and external partners as required.

Skills, experience:

  • Qualified accountant with proven financial leadership experience.
