Interim Head of Finance - Bristol

Greenwell Gleeson is recruiting an Interim Head of Finance for an SME operating within the manufacturing/construction sector in Bristol.
This is a hands-on assignment combining day-to-day financial management with a strong focus on transformation and improvement. You will take ownership of month-end reporting, strengthen cash flow visibility and deliver meaningful management information to support business decisions.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the month-end process, taking a hands-on role in preparing accurate, timely management accounts.
- Develop and maintain a robust 13-week rolling cash flow forecast, identifying funding requirements and driving working capital improvements.
- Improve management information, providing clear analysis of performance, margins, costs and profitability.
- Identify and implement improvements across financial processes, controls and reporting.
- Manage and support a small finance team, providing clear direction and practical assistance.
- Work closely with operational teams to improve financial understanding and accountability.
- Support budgeting and forecasting, ensuring financial information translates into clear actions.
About you:
You will be an experienced interim finance leader with a track record of delivering improvements within an SME environment. Manufacturing and/or construction experience is highly desirable, alongside strong cash flow management and management accounting skills.
Crucially, you must be comfortable getting into the detail, preparing accounts yourself and working alongside the team to deliver change. This role requires someone who can balance immediate operational priorities with lasting improvements.
