Summary: The Interim Head of Finance - Financial Planning role involves overseeing the financial planning cycle within a Local Authority, working closely with the Director of Finance. The position requires managing a team of five and ensuring effective financial reporting and compliance with treasury policies. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the North West of England. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the Council's Medium Term Financial Strategy and support financial improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Director Strategic Finance and Technical in managing the development and ongoing co-ordination of the Council's Medium Term Financial Strategy.
- Manage and support a team of five.
- Ensure effective financial reporting is in place, encouraging best practice and introducing innovative ways of working.
- Review and update financial planning processes and procedures to ensure they are robust and appropriate.
- Provide support on the business partnering and financial improvement journey.
- Lead on developing, implementing, and monitoring the annual Treasury Management Strategy, including prudential indicators.
- Ensure compliance with treasury policies, statutory requirements, and best practices; regularly review these policies and practices.
- Responsible for managing the administration of grants within the council.
