Summary: The Interim Head of Engineering role is a senior leadership position within a UK-based multi-site engineering function for a global FMCG food manufacturer. The position involves overseeing engineering project management, compliance, and team development while driving operational excellence across multiple manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and manage a significant budget, ensuring the delivery of capital projects and adherence to industry standards. This interim contract is expected to last for six months and is classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering function for the UK, nurturing a best-in-class engineering team.
• Oversee and manage a portfolio of engineering projects across multiple sites, ensuring high standards and governance for expenditure.
• Drive the effectiveness of utilities and factory services, optimizing processes.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards in all engineering activities.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and managers.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the UK Operations Director and site management teams on engineering matters.
• Optimize plant capabilities to meet business demands while ensuring environmental compliance.

Key Skills:

• Proven leadership and senior stakeholder management experience in the manufacturing FMCG sector.
• Ability to work across disciplines and within matrix structures with strong influencing skills.
• Mechanical/electrical qualification or equivalent, ideally a degree, with chartered status preferred.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, particularly in FMCG environments.
• Excellent people leadership skills to motivate and drive projects.
• Track record of successfully delivering engineering project portfolios.
