Interim Head of Children’s Finance

We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Head of Children’s Finance to join a local authority in the North West region on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a key leadership role responsible for providing strategic financial support across Children’s Services, leading a finance team, and ensuring effective financial planning, reporting, and budget management within a high-profile service area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Children’s Finance function and manage a high-performing finance team.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior leaders and service directors.
• Oversee budget setting, forecasting, and financial performance management.
• Support savings programmes and transformation initiatives.
• Ensure robust financial governance and compliance with local government finance regulations.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Children’s Services.

About You:

• CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
• Extensive local government finance experience.
• Strong understanding of Children’s Services funding and financial management.
• Proven leadership experience within a complex public sector environment.
• Able to quickly establish credibility and deliver results in an interim role.
