Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting periodic group consolidations, including consolidated balance sheet and cash flow for management accounts.
  • Leading the preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts and contribute to interim and annual consolidated reports.
  • Taking ownership of processing and reporting lease accounting entries, maintaining control accounts, and producing disclosure notes for statutory reporting.
  • Managing the impairment review process at half year and year end, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Documenting and performing controls around impairment and assist in monitoring financial controls across the department.
  • Acting as a key liaison with external auditors, providing information and resolving queries.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS standards to ensure compliance across subsidiary and consolidated accounts.
  • Assisting with balance sheet and cash flow reporting, fixed asset accounting, implementation of new standards, and accounting for acquisitions/disposals.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, particularly IFRS 16 Leases.
  • Experience in group consolidations.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with confidence in liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Marks Sattin is partnering with a leading organisation in Birmingham to recruit an Interim Group Financial Accountant on a 12 month fixed term contract. The Group Financial Accountant will have broad exposure across both internal and external reporting, with particular emphasis on IFRS 16 lease accounting and impairment reviews.
