Summary: The role of Interim Group Financial Accountant involves managing critical financial functions within a tech organization, focusing on accounting, tax, audit, and financial reporting. This position offers significant ownership and interaction with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team and Board. The successful candidate will lead month-end and year-end processes, oversee statutory accounts, and manage audits while supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 1-3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading month-end and year-end close, including Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting
- Ownership of statutory accounts production across Group entities
- Leading external audit process and acting as primary audit contact
- Responsibility for accounting, tax, and compliance (Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE, R&D and other employment taxes)
- Management of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including line management of two team members
- Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and Group Accounting Manual
- Providing technical accounting guidance on UK GAAP, company law, and HMRC requirements
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and executive-level reporting with insight and commentary
- Acting as finance system super user and supporting wider business usage
- Deputising for the Financial Controller when required
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong technical background in financial reporting, tax, and compliance
- Experience leading or supervising small finance teams
- Confident managing audits and statutory accounts preparation

Currently supporting a well-established tech organisation responsible for managing critical infrastructure, who are looking to appoint a Group Financial Accountant into their small but high-performing Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a broad, senior-level finance role with real ownership, visibility, and impact. The role is paying up to 90k as an FTC or 500 on day rate for a 6 month period with the view of going permanent.
